A couple of weeks ago, I received my first songwriting commission: to write a song encouraging people to stay cool without turning on their air conditioning. A tall order to fill, especially since the client, Hypenotic, was in Toronto and Toronto was in the midst a major heat wave!

Out here Nova Scotia’s gloriously temperate South Shore, I took the four cool down techniques Hypenotic had given me and wrote them into a song. Then, I went to Kirk Comstock at Comstock Recording Studios and we recorded it.

Next, the folks at Hypenotic created an animated video to go with the song. Here’s the finished product. I hope you enjoy it and use some of these methods to conserve energy during the summer heat.
